IP3 2025 – Audio Processing 3 (Lot 16314)
This lot is generally related to a technique for providing realistic 3D sound based on where a listener is looking to enhance user engagement and navigation in AR/VR environments and deliver more natural and immersive experiences. Techniques are disclosed to offer an immersive and intuitive audio-visual experience by delivering binaural sound of a voice to a listener such that the sound appears to originate from a specific point in space, called the sound localization point (SLP), which is within the listener’s field of view. It is also disclosed that if the SLP moves out of view, the head-worn device detects the movement and provides a visual cue indicating the SLP’s off-screen position to help the listener stay oriented to the source of the sound. The technology may be implemented in augmented and virtual reality applications, gaming systems, head-mounted displays, wearable devices, location-based services, etc.
