IP3 2024 – Web Browser (Lot 12007)

This lot is generally related to a technique to improve performance of a web browser while pre-fetching web objects. Techniques are disclosed to increase performance of HTTP over long-latency links by pre-fetching objects using flow-controlled channels. Disclosed is a technique to parse a description of a web page to identify the first group of objects which are received by a browser in a sequential order. Also disclosed are techniques to retrieve a second group of objects from a source server, retrieve the first group of objects from the source server, and disjoint the first group of objects from the second group of objects. The system has a cache for caching the first and second group of objects, and the browser retrieves the first group of objects from the cache. Further disclosed is an agent to speed up Internet transactions in bandwidth constraint connection and assist the browser to fetch the objects locally. The technology may be implemented in web browsers, content distribution networks, etc.
