IP3 2024 – Nano-photonic Crystal Device (Lot 15566)
This invention is generally related to nano-photonic integrated circuits capable of controlling an exceptional point using a pair of nano-sized photonic crystal resonators for controlling light propagation and manipulating optical properties. Disclosed is a photonic crystal device consisting of a two-dimensional crystal with a gain medium and having a first photonic crystal resonator and a second photonic crystal resonator. The photonic resonators are spaced apart from each other. A graphene layer is disposed to cover a portion of the first photonic crystal resonator and not the second photonic crystal resonator. The technology may be implemented in optical filters, waveguides, sensors, etc.
