Disclosed are streaming techniques by playing a media stream, identify look ahead segments of stream and pre-fetch those segments so that user can anytime skip ahead without any interruption or inconvenience. The technology may be implemented in set top boxes, streaming devices, smart phones, smart TVs, multimedia devices, etc.
