Video Quality Evaluation via Downscaling and Upscaling (DEAL 657)

This invention is generally related to multimedia services. Disclosed is a technique to accurately evaluate the quality of a video that is transmitted at a lower resolution than the original and improve video transmission performance. The technique reduces the resolution of a video, encodes the video at the lower resolution, decodes the encoded lower-resolution video, and then increases the resolution back to the original resolution.
