This patent is generally related to tracking of mobile devices during a trip. Techniques are disclosed to track mobile device during a trip and automatically inform third party by sending an alert of a delayed return or a predicted delayed return. Disclosed is a technique to track progress of a trip and automatically inform the third party of a delayed return. The system monitors the trip’s progress in such a way that if the traveler do not return home after a certain duration a third party is notified so that unattended pets and children are taken care. Also disclosed are techniques to adjust the trip duration of delay or advances a designed arrival time. The technology may be implemented in mobile apps, mobile tracking system, location tracking system, etc.
