This portfolio is generally related to data communication in wireless networks. Techniques are disclosed to determine mobile device location by receiving a location query to serving network, download location data from a GPS unit and transmit the location information. Also disclosed are techniques to encodes a digital bitstream using a set of modulation parameters to generate an audio signal having different audio tones selected to pass through a vocoder to monitors transmission errors. The technology may be implemented in telecommunication network, wireless networks, etc.
