Cache eviction and Prefetch policies (DEAL 660)

This lot is generally related to cache management in a memory to improve performance, efficiency and reduce cost. Disclosed is a technique for generating a virtual address by executing a memory reference instruction and search a translation look-aside buffer for an entry having a tag which is matching with the virtual address. The entry in the buffer has a physical address information and a cache prefetch indicator which indicates multiple cache prefetch policies related to the virtual address. Also disclosed techniques to match the tag and prefetch an element into the cache according to the physical address information and the cache prefetch indicator. The technology may be implemented in memory management system, cache memory control system, etc.
