Communication System and Method for Seamless Sessions (DEAL 526)
This patent is generally related to a communication system for establishing a session between a caller and a callee to avoid packet losses. Disclosed is a technique to establish a session between a caller and a second callee by receiving a call from a callee’s Application Server (AS), a caller’s call request, and connecting to a first callee to forward the call to the second callee after the caller receives a ringback tone. The callee AS sends a re-invite message to the second callee for a session negotiation and receives a response message from the callee AS with the session description protocol (SDP) of the second callee. The callee AS sends an update request message with the SDP of the second callee to the caller using soft switches for performing a session negotiation with the caller according to the SDP of the second callee to complete a bidirectional session negotiation between the caller and second callee to ensure that the caller and callees are connected properly. The technology may be implemented in digital telephony systems, communication networks, etc.
