This portfolio is generally related to a virtual reality system to provide an interactive and enhanced virtual reality experience. Various techniques are disclosed to provide a virtual reality experience by establishing communication between a first-user computing environment and multiple network servers. The system provides a multiuser virtual reality experience consisting of a server that communicates with a first-user virtual reality device (VR) having a VR headset and generates a first avatar corresponding to the user. Also disclosed is that the first avatar is situated within a common environment, which is viewable on the first VR device. The server communicates with a second user VR device and configures it to generate a second avatar corresponding to the second user. Further disclosed is that the second avatar is situated within the common environment viewable in the second VR headset to improve immersion. Further disclosed is that the server allows the first user to provide a tour to the second user so that the second avatar automatically follows the first avatar when the first avatar moves within the common environment. The technology may be implemented in VR devices, body part tracking systems, VR applications, real-time virtual effects tracking systems, shared augmented reality devices, etc.
