This lot is generally related to targeted advertising and personalized content delivery based on data analysis techniques to understand users’ interests and preferences based on the content they view, search terms they use, or actions they take online. Disclosed is a technique for providing internet-based content to viewers based on viewed internet pages by dividing the internet pages into regions and monitoring and tracking the frequency and duration of viewing by the viewer of each region. The system compiles the textural information for each region, stores words or phrases that are predetermined to be of no value for determining user interest, and determines the most frequently used words and phrases. Also disclosed are techniques to semantically compare the most frequently used words and phrases to the most frequently used words and phrases of internet-based content that can be supplied to the viewer and provide relevant internet-based content with semantic similarity above a pre-specified threshold value to the viewer on a display screen. The system also displays a link to the relevant content in the in the specified region of the webpages. The technology may be implemented in web searching systems, location-based searching systems, targeted advertising systems, personalized content delivery systems, etc.
