This lot is generally related to real time video data streaming. Techniques are disclosed to real-time transmit video content to reduce delay and control network congestion. Disclosed is a technique to real-time stream and transmit video data without the start-up delay to a video viewer and create excess data buffer at the viewer terminal. The system reduces the transmission rate if a suitable size buffer is built to deliver the best quality video data for the available bandwidth and switches back to high bit-rate when buffer is reduced. Also disclosed are techniques to account for bandwidth fluctuations during transmission on a fine scale by adjusting the transmission rate of the data and on a coarse scale by switching between data streams encoded at different bit-rates. A patent in the lot discloses a multi user display consisting of various user terminals and a server with a communal display screen for recovering pages for display on the user terminals. The server also responds to the user command and change the display accordingly. The technology may be implemented in real-time media streaming systems, media streaming scheduler, video on-demand system, group gaming system, collaborative browsing system, etc.
